See the Couch Picture. Whenever you wish to purchase any used furniture, see the picture first. If you are not sure, ask for close up pictures to look for infestations or damages or cigarette burns, etc. and buy only the best as well as cheap one. Check if the couch is covered. Some sellers buy a good cover or new cushions to hide the defects of their old couch. Do not fall for such ploys. Check the couch first. Couches left outside. Do not buy a sofa or couch that has been left outside to be preyed upon by rain, snow, sun, insects and other strays. These sofas are not worth to be kept inside your living room.
The daybed was the most popular and common kind of sofa in the 17th century. Especially into the 19th century the sofa, couch, or lounge bed was often thought of as a ladies lounging seat. However, reverting back further in history, men would often lounge as they ate or relaxed, and the women would stand or sit in chairs. As a matter of fact, it was not until the industrial era that sofas began to appear eventually in the homes of more and more common people. Soon it became so that virtually everyone, singles, couples, and / or whole families, would acquire at least one sofa for their home.
For an all purpose gathering place, living room furniture is always needed to enhance the space and provide the comfort that is much needed by men after a hectic day-schedule. Many gathering spaces include sofas, couches, loveseats, recliners, coffee tables, entertainment centers, pianos, and other useful or decorative pieces.
