Small Room Considerations. In a small space, matching your wall color and sofa will make the room appear larger; the sofa will disappear into the wall. Choose streamlined furniture instead of oversize pieces, and avoid dark upholstery. To really open up the room, use two chairs instead of a love seat. Couches and love seats carry significant visual weight, so only use both if your room can handle two sizable pieces.
If you have pets or children, choose something with easily removable cushions that can be cleaned on a regular basis. White furniture is a dicey move in any home (except maybe a model one), but for a house with kids and pets, it is decorating suicide. Try going with a darker color if you can expect spills and stains; otherwise, go with something neutral. You can add splashes of color with throws and pillows, which are an easy way to change the color scheme of the room if you go with neutral base hues.
A 2 seater sofa is sometimes also referred to as a loveseat. These sofas look exactly like their full size counter parts but are smaller. They are usually used as part of a living room set and usually match their larger counterparts completely.
