Bernhardt Furniture. Bernhardt Furniture is a high-end manufacturer known for its soft styles and lustrous materials. As another testament to the deep roots of many furniture manufacturers, Bernhardt has been around since 1889—operated by the Bernhardt family ever since. Bernhardt was founded in Lenoir, North Carolina by John Bernhardt, and is operated today by Alex Bernhardt Sr., Anne Bernhardt, and Alex Bernhardt Jr. This well-aged family operation is certainly among the top tier of furniture brands on the market today, and operate over 12 manufacturing facilities and have a 75,000 square foot showroom in High Point, North Carolina—regarded by many as the furniture capital of the world. While truly impressive in its stature, Bernhardt also offers very noteworthy execution in the designs they unveil each market. Bernhardt is committed to responsible manufacturing practices in the labor they use, as well as their impact on the environment. The have received EFEC certification for most of their US-based manufacturing facilities, and further their endeavors of environmental stewardship by working such other such organizations as Greenguard 2 Bernhardt offers a tremendous selection of finely-crafted furniture that really focuses heavily on soft-lines, neutral colors, and attention to detail often overlooked. Truly, they have styles for every occasion, and considering they are now in their third century of operations—having survived The Great Depression and two World Wars—it's clear that Bernhardt's title of being one of the best furniture brands around is well-deserved. Bernhardt doesn't offer direct-to-consumer sales, so you'll have to check out their dealer locator page to find a local seller near you.
Also use the simple rule that dark colors advance and pale ones recede -a light sofa makes a room look larger than a darker one. Always take a tape measure with you when you shop to doublecheck measurements.
Sofas have been called by many names, we are familiar with them being called couches, but they have also been called settees, lounges, davenports, or chesterfields. But it does not stop there they also go by other names because of their various styles such as a two-seater, a three-seater, a corner sofa, or perhaps a chaise lounge. A small version of a couch is sometimes called a loveseat, and, as you likely already know, there are sofas that fold out into beds, as well as futons -which are incredibly similar. There are even lounges or elaborate sofas with canopies for privacy or decoration.
