The key to a comfortable small sofa sleeper is all in the mattress. Some small and full size sleeper sofas have paper thin mattresses and springs sticking into the back. Most of us have experienced the dreaded sleeper sofas of old. Most sleeper sofas today are much better than the metal filled, spring loaded sleeper sofas of old. Still, the average sleeper sofa sold today is not what you would call comfortable either. Other small couch sleepers are incredibly comfortable and easy to lay on.
Another big advantage of a futon as compared to a day bed is that if placed in a living room or den, a futon certainly looks the part of a couch or sofa more than a day bed due to its construction and style. Additionally, it is a cost-effective choice/option, typically falling on the lower end of the price scale when compared to both sleeper sofas and day beds. Part of the reason for its value and inexpensive price point lies in its simple but sophisticated construction.
Sleeper sofas are great for small apartments, such as studios where everything is in one room. Renters can have a sofa during the day and a bed at night. This is possible without having to purchase 2 separate pieces of furniture.
