Once you have spent some time looking through the thousands of fabric offerings, you may want to purchase fabric swatches (inexpensively) to ensure that the colors and hues that you see on your computer monitor are not simply glitches in your monitor settings. There is nothing like having the actual fabric in your hand and in your room to test it with the colors already there.
Find your style. The sofa should math the living room in terms of style. So if your living room is minimalist, the sofa should also feature the same characteristics. Of course, you can also try to mix and match different styles and, for example, put a Victorian sofa in a modern setting. Pick a color and/or a pattern. The sofa itself shouldn't be the center of attention in the living room. So don't try to make it stand out more than it has to by choosing a very bold color. Also, trendy patterns are not a great option either. Pattern and color should come from the throw pillows or other accent elements.
The frame of the sofa is very important. You want it to be sturdy and made from quality materials as this will affect the longevity of the lounge. You can get some wonderful extra features with your couch. Sofa beds are great if you do not have a guest bedroom yet and you intend to have people stay with you. Chaise lounge chairs are great as an added length for someone to relax and put their feet up or even for extra seating if needed. Depending on your lifestyle and how you will be using your lounge you my want to consider these options.
