In some cases space may be at a premium. Like in apartments where using a full size sofa is just not an option. A 2 seater sofa combined with a chair or two might be the perfect solution to a small area.
Your sofa and love seat can complement each other without matching exactly. As long as the two don't clash, your room will come together in a distinctive way. To ground the room, choose a couch with solid-color or neutral upholstery and a love seat in a different style or color. Reserve bold prints and stripes for chairs and smaller upholstered pieces. For a soothing mix, match your furniture to the colors in your rug, or tie the pieces together with coordinating toss pillows. If you can't envision the result, furniture stores typically keep interior decorators on hand to guide anxious shoppers.
Everything in Proportion. Aside from being the right scale for seating in small rooms, loveseats are pleasingly proportioned in and of themselves. A sofa can appear long and ungainly. A loveseat rarely does. With a perfect balance of height and width, loveseats add a feeling of order and elegance to the design of a room. When used with sofas, they add a sense of balance to the seating arrangement. Sofas and loveseats often look better together than a sofa alone.
