Couches left outside. Do not buy a sofa or couch that has been left outside to be preyed upon by rain, snow, sun, insects and other strays. These sofas are not worth to be kept inside your living room.
One of the main considerations is whether to buy a suite, a unit system or sofas and armchairs separately. The advantage of buying a suite-consisting of a sofa and two matching armchairs -is that you can make considerable savings. Furniture retailers are usually able to offer suites at more competitive prices than buying the items individually. However, a suite may not offer the flexibility that you are looking for or suit the room, so it is worth taking the time to plan what arrangement and size of furniture best fits the space before making the final decision.
Figure out how the sofa will be oriented. Perhaps this should be the first step when choosing a sofa. Decide where the sofa will be placed so you know what to look for. If you usually enjoy sitting in front of the TV then that's where you should place the sofa. But perhaps you enjoy entertaining guests and chatting with them in which case you should create a cozy lounge area in front of the fireplace or facing the bar. Be careful however because placing a sofa parallel to the fireplace in a long and narrow room can make the room even narrower.
