Hello, homeowners! Today we will be answering a question that a lot of new homeowners ask. What should I buy first when you get a new house, the emptiness can be intimidating. With so much space to fill and so many decorating decisions to make, you might feel overwhelmed.
But there is no need to go all in at the beginning you should take it slow. Buying too much too soon can be restricting! For example, you invest in a great set of expensive drapes but find after living there for a while that the living room doesn't need them. Instead, you should buy a few necessary pieces first and see what you need and what you like.
These are a few absolute essentials that every "new homeowner" should have.
1. Bed Frame & Mattress
First of all, you need the right bed frame and mattress. This is at the very top of the list. Invest in a sturdy and long-lasting frame and then splurge on excellent and comfortable bedding. You'll be better rested and more energized every morning if you spent the night on the right mattress. Of course, you have to assess the space you have can you fit a queen, twin, or a king sized bed?
After you've got your bed, now it's time to buy a sofa. Find a piece that truly reflects your lifestyle. If you live in a studio unit and your friends love to come over, a sofa bed is a right choice.
If you have a big family, you might want to choose an L-shaped modular sofa. There are so many different styles of a sofa; I'm sure you'll be able to find one that fits your home.
3. Dining Table
Next up is a dining room table. Again, think of your lifestyle. Around and classic table like this is just perfect for families. You can comfortably sit down to dinner and have a friendly conversation. But if you're in a smaller space, you could try getting folding tables which can be retracted when you're done eating.
After the dining tables, you can move on to storage. If you're moving in, you've got a lot to unpack, so you need to get ample storage for everything. As much as possible, pick pieces that are bold enough to be part of the decor. Try to find storage that can also be your accent piece.
So that's all the essentials you need to buy a bed frame, mattress, sofa, dining table, and storage. It's a great way to start decorating your' new home. And after a few 'weeks of living there, you see what needs to be added and what you need to buy.
